Philippe Eullaffroy did not hold back after a controversial moment involving CF Montréal left him visibly frustrated on Saturday night.
Following the match, Eullaffroy made his feelings crystal clear, criticizing the officiating and, more importantly, the way the situation was handled in front of thousands of supporters.
According to comments shared by Maxime Truman, Eullaffroy pointed out that almost everyone inside the stadium appeared to see the incident the same way.
“97% of the 19,000 people in the stadium saw that there was a penalty,” Eullaffroy said.
For him, the frustration goes far beyond one missed call.
He believes the situation reflects a larger issue with the level of respect being shown toward the club and its supporters.
“I have the impression that they’re taking us for idiots,” Eullaffroy added, before criticizing what he described as a total lack of respect.
The comments came after an already tense evening in Montreal, with the decision leaving the stadium frustrated and Eullaffroy clearly unhappy with the way things unfolded.
The CF Montréal environment has seen its share of difficult moments, but having a member of the organization publicly express this level of frustration adds another layer to the controversy.
Eullaffroy also suggested that the club could receive an apology from Major League Soccer following the incident.
“We’re going to receive a nice little letter from MLS to apologize,” he said sarcastically.
Whether MLS addresses the situation publicly remains to be seen, but one thing is clear: the controversy has not gone unnoticed.
With 19,000 supporters watching, Eullaffroy believes the message from the crowd was impossible to ignore.
And judging by his comments, he certainly isn’t ready to quietly move on from it.
